Disproportionality, Safety and Belonging

Throughout its four decades, PCSAO has tackled critical issues as part of its public policy advocacy and research, with the goal of improving outcomes for children and families. One such persistent issue is racial disproportionality in foster care. Among our many efforts, PCSAO has tracked data in the annual Factbook. We have led training focused on safety culture, safety science, and belonging at work. And we have explored issues related to fairness while engaging those with lived experience and co-designing programs. The resources on this page have been assembled to advance understanding of these topics.

Learning Series

Check out this 2021 virtual learning series generously funded by Casey Family Programs and led by the Center for the Study of Social Policy. The series was intended to guide internal learning for PCSAs embarking on a journey to better understand systemic inequities in child protection.
