New Ohio START research demonstrates value of program to parents

An August report from the Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service finds that parents benefit in many significant ways from Ohio START, the model that serves families with co-occurring substance use disorder and child maltreatment.

Ohio START Parent Interview Findings demonstrates the value of the model based on interviews with 60 parents who completed the program in the last four years. Primary findings indicate that enhanced parenting, the positive impact of family peer mentors, positive comparison over general child protective services, life-saving impact and improved outlook and attitude are among benefits cited by most parent participants.

The report includes a number of moving quotes from parents.
